The Hershey Company, an American food company, offered 2,851 "Grow Nut" food kits to the Children Of Africa Foundation on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
The ceremony, which took place at the Foundation's headquarters, witnessed the presence of Mrs. Tricia Brannigan, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer of Hershey Company, Mr. Tim McCoy, Partnerships Director at Hershey Company, Mrs. Yao Patricia Sylvie, Chief of Staff to the First Lady and many other personalities.
Mrs. Yao Patricia Sylvie had the honor to represent the wife of the Head of State at this donation ceremony. The donation consists of 2,851 Grow Nut food kits worth more than 69 million CFA francs. These food kits are intended for children in difficult situations, especially in rural areas during school period. After thanking Mrs. Tricia Brannigan, Mrs. Yao Patricia Sylvie, Chief of Staff to the First Lady, welcomed the opportunity of these donations for children in difficult situations. "This donation (...) comes at the right time, because at this time of the year, it will help school canteens, especially those in rural areas, with a stock of nutritional products ready for consumption by children. This action of the Hershey company will really contribute to fight against hunger in schools and to improve the schooling rate of children living in disadvantaged areas. Indeed, as you know, hunger is a cause of poor performance and even school dropout," said Ms. Yao Patricia Sylvie. In addition, Mrs. Yao Patricia Sylvie presented the different sectors of activities of the Children Of Africa Foundation, namely the health , education, social sector, and the fight against child labor, but also the issue of women's empowerment through the Support Fund for Women in Côte d'Ivoire (FAFCI).
Tricia Brannigan, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer of Hershey Company, revealed the company's social commitment. According to Ms. Brannigan, Hershey also supports education and youth. In this regard, she recalled that Mr. Milton S. Hershey, founder of the company, also created a school for orphans since 1909. To date, 2,600 children have benefited from schooling from primary to high school. Mrs. Tricia Brannigan also welcomed the donation of food kits for needy children.
