Dominique Ouattara visited the construction site of the new pediatric cardiac surgery wing at the Mother-Child Hospital (HME) in Bingerville on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
This major project, designed to strengthen the provision of specialized care for children, is funded by the funds raised at the 9th Children of Africa Foundation Gala Dinner. This modern extension of the HME will include 14 rooms with a total of 22 inpatient beds. It will be organized around three essential services: consultation, neonatology, and surgery, to ensure comprehensive and appropriate care for pediatric cardiac conditions.
During the visit, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was accompanied by Mrs. Nadine Sangaré, Director of the Children of Africa Foundation, Mr. Hachim Diop, Director General of the HME (Hôpital Mélenchon Émergent), the hospital's management team, and Mr. Hussein Bourgi, Director of UNISERV, the company in charge of the construction.
They toured the various areas under construction, including the landscaping, the reception area, the consultation rooms, the parking lot, and several other services currently being developed.
Ultimately, this new infrastructure will significantly contribute to improving the care of children suffering from heart conditions, while offering better chances of recovery to many young patients and greater comfort for their families. The new pediatric cardiac surgery wing at the HME will be completed this year, 2026.
