Residents of Assounvouè, a town located 189 kilometers from Abidjan, now have better access to healthcare thanks to support from the Children of Africa Foundation, led by First Lady Dominique Ouattara.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the “Catherine Sanogo” clinic and maternity ward received a large shipment of medical supplies intended to strengthen their technical capabilities and improve patient care, particularly for pregnant women and newborns.
This gesture of solidarity from the Children of Africa Foundation supports the efforts of the Klamman Foundation, chaired by Mrs. Catherine Kouadio, wife of Sanogo, who initiated the construction of these health facilities for the benefit of the people of Assounvouè.
The equipment handover ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Son Jérôme, representing the President of the Children of Africa Foundation; Ms. Béatrice Durand, the Foundation’s Director of Social Affairs; Mr. Tazieff Ouattara, Project Manager; and Ms. Catherine Kouadio Sanogo, surrounded by local officials and residents.
The donation includes, among other items, two 1.5-horsepower air conditioners, four electronic blood pressure monitors, two storage cabinets, six visitor chairs, two infrared thermometers, six delivery beds, and various other medical supplies. The total value of these in-kind donations is estimated at fifteen million (15,000,000) CFA francs.
In addition to this equipment, the Children of Africa Foundation donated more than five hundred thousand (500,000) CFA francs to the local community.
Speaking on behalf of the First Lady, Dr. Son Jérôme highlighted Mrs. Dominique Ouattara’s ongoing commitment to the most vulnerable segments of society. He emphasized that these efforts reflect the First Lady’s determination to support the social development policy launched by the President of the Republic throughout the country.
“The First Lady brings relief to our mothers in the villages. She stands alongside her husband, the President of the Republic, in the vast development project underway in our country,” he stated.
The representative of the Children of Africa Foundation also highlighted several major achievements of the Foundation, including the Mother-Child Hospital in Bingerville, the Children of Africa School of Excellence in Abobo, the “Safe Home” Women’s Shelter in Adiaké, as well as the shelters in Soubré, Ferkessédougou, and Bouaké.
Taking this opportunity, Dr. Son Jérôme encouraged local women to visit the maternity ward regularly in order to receive better prenatal care and appropriate medical attention. He also praised the social commitment of Mrs. Catherine Kouadio, wife of Mr. Sanogo, to the well-being of the people of Assounvouè.
On behalf of the community, Mr. N’dri Kouadio Narcisse, Councilor for the Autonomous District of Abidjan and a local leader, expressed her gratitude to the First Lady for her numerous social initiatives in support of disadvantaged populations, as well as for strengthening the technical infrastructure of the village clinic and maternity ward.
Mrs. Amani Suzanne, Vice President of the Klamman Foundation, and Mr. Kouamé Kouassi Joseph, Secretary General of the Assounvouè chiefdom, also expressed their appreciation to Mrs. Dominique Ouattara for this significant act of solidarity.
Mr. Aka Sayé Lazare, President of the Côte d’Ivoire section of the Federation for Peace, emphasized the values of peace, solidarity, and love for one’s neighbor as essential foundations for a nation’s development.
As a token of appreciation, Mrs. Catherine Kouadio Sanogo, and the people of Assounvouè presented food supplies to the First Lady as well as gifts to the members of the Children of Africa Foundation delegation.
