The First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, President of the Children Of Africa Foundation, has once again taken strong action to promote the health of rural populations. She donated medical equipment worth a total of over thirteen million (13,000,000) CFA francs to the Ama Dobia integrated health center in Amapo-Kouassikro, a town located in the sub-prefecture of Kouassi-Datekro, in the department of Koun-Fao.
The official handover ceremony took place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in front of the health center, in the presence of administrative, health, and traditional authorities, as well as the beneficiary populations. The First Lady was represented on this occasion by Dr. Son Jérôme, Head of Health department at the Children Of Africa Foundation.
The equipment donated includes, among other items, an electric vacuum cleaner, a mucus aspirator for infants, two manual mucus aspirators, a storage cabinet, two benches, a desk and a nurse's chair, a first aid kit, and various medical supplies essential to the proper functioning of the health facility. In addition to this equipment, Ms. Dominique Ouattara's representative gave an envelope containing 500,000 CFA francs to the people present.
The result of a community initiative, the Ama Dobia integrated health center, consisting of a dispensary and a maternity ward, was built by Mr. Morou Koffi, President of the Amapo-Kouassikro mutual development association. Long awaited by the local population, this facility puts an end to the long distances that people used to have to travel to access healthcare. Aware of the importance of having adequate technical facilities, the local population sought the support of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara in order to make this healthcare infrastructure fully operational.
In his speech, Dr. Son Jérôme praised the spirit of solidarity and the participatory development model that enabled the community to build an integrated health center. According to him, this facility will contribute significantly to reducing maternal and infant mortality, as well as to improving the overall health of the population. He also recalled the First Lady's particular commitment to public health issues, especially those affecting rural communities. It was in this spirit, he said, that Mrs. Dominique Ouattara responded favorably to the appeal of the people of Amapo-Kouassikro. Taking advantage of the ceremony, he officially introduced the new nurse assigned to the center, to loud applause from the community.
Taking the floor, Mrs. Dayo Ebia Dina, Sub-Prefect of Bohaia, expressed the gratitude of the administration and the community to the generous donor. She praised the First Lady's many social initiatives and highlighted the synergy of the actions of the people of Amapo-Kouassikro, which are perfectly in line with the President of the Republic's vision of providing each community with local health infrastructure.
For his part, Dr. Zana Coulibaly, Departmental Director of Health for Koun-Fao, welcomed the construction and equipping of this health center, which will bring healthcare closer to the population on a long-term basis. He urged residents to visit the facility regularly to maintain their health and well-being.
On behalf of the beneficiary populations, Mr. Ouattara Bakari, spokesperson for the inhabitants of Amapo-Kouassikro, expressed his warm thanks to Mrs. Dominique Ouattara for this important gesture of solidarity.
Through this major donation, the First Lady has once again reaffirmed the Children of Africa Foundation's ongoing commitment to improving access to healthcare, particularly for rural and vulnerable populations.
