AFTER HIS CONCERT IN ABIDJAN, KOFFI OLOMIDE VISITS THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN BINGERVILLE AND THE CHILDREN’S SHELTER

First Lady Dominique Ouattara received renowned Congolese artist Koffi Olomidé, this Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Presidential Residence located at the Riviera Golf.

The meeting comes at a time where Koffi Olomidé is in Abidjan for two concerts. The artist will perform on Saturday October 26 and Monday October 28, 2024, offering his Ivorian fans the opportunity to experience some exceptional musical moments. Taking advantage of these events, Koffi Olomidé requested an audience with the First Lady to present his greetings.

After the meeting, the Congolese artist shared the reasons for his presence, praising both the simplicity and the grandeur of the wife of the Head of State.

“When we're lucky enough that the First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire accepts our invitation to come and say hello to her and to tell us all the good things we've always thought of her. We can't miss the opportunity. I came to pay my respects and tell this great lady how good she is. I’m happy I met a First Lady of incredible simplicity. Let me tell you a secret. During the interview, she called me “my brother”. I expected anything but that, and for that I salute and respect her,” he declared.

The artist also revealed a little about his concerts, which coincide with the celebration of the 38th anniversary of the Latin Quarter, his emblematic orchestra.  To mark the occasion, the concert will take on a special color. Entitled “Koffi à la carte”, the artist will give his fans the chance to choose their favorite songs themselves. “I'm boosted as if I'd been endowed. I really feel doped up. I invite all fans of Koffi Olomidé, Cindy le Cœur and quartier Latin. After 38 years of existence, I think quartier Latin has brought happiness to the whole of Africa over all these years.

We've known generations of musicians, young people who have evolved.  And we're going to make a sort of condensed version. The evening is called “Koffi à la carte”. In other words, every Ivorian will be free to choose his or her favorite song. If there are too many, we won't be able to play them all. But we'll do at least a good part of them. People will make their own evening. It's a new exercise, and we are doing this for the first time in Abidjan. I invite fans to get their tickets so that the party can be complete”, he said.

Côte d'Ivoire, the country he loves

Koffi Olomidé concluded by expressing his gratitude and love for Côte d'Ivoire, his homeland.  Indeed, he recalled that his fame started from Côte d'Ivoire.

The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere, symbolizing a beautiful friendship between Côte d'Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo through music.
