After two (2) years of interruption, the 13th edition of the Children Of Africa Foundation soccer tournament with the Dominique Ouattara Cup was launched on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
The launching ceremony which took place at the headquarters of the Children Of Africa Foundation in Cocody witnessed the participation of Mr. Danho Paulin Claude, Minister of Sports, Mrs. Arlette Badou N'Guessan, Mr. Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), as well as mayors and representatives of the localities selected for the organization of this 13th edition. It is important to note that Mrs. Dominique Ouattara was represented at this ceremony by Mrs. Nadine Sangaré, Director of the Children Of Africa Foundation.
This 13th edition of the soccer tournament of the Children Of Africa Foundation will take place in 71 localities of the country against 58 for the previous edition. It is an envelope of more than 29 million F CFA that the Foundation of Mrs. Dominique Ouattara will distribute in terms of reward for this soccer tournament in order to occupy the children aged from 7 to 15 years old during the school vacations.
Mrs. Nadine Sangaré, Director of the Children Of Africa Foundation, stressed the importance of sports for children, but also the willingness of the Foundation to work for the welfare of children. "We all know that sport in general and soccer in particular contributes to the development of our children by bringing them values such as team spirit and discipline. By promoting these values, combined with our actions in the education, health and social sectors, the Children Of Africa Foundation works for the well-being of our children. To this end, the tournament of the Children Of Africa Foundation, which is in its 13th edition, offers thousands of children aged 7 to 15 years this year in 69 localities across the country, the joy of participating in this competition during school vacations, "she said. As in previous years, the Foundation has spared no expense to please the lucky winners and the various participants in this tournament. To this end, the finalist teams will each receive a trophy and an amount of 410,000 CFA francs for each locality. In addition, gifts in kind consisting of sets of jerseys, balls and trophies will be given to all finalists, the best scorers and goalkeepers.
Paulin Danho Claude, Minister of Sports, thanked Mrs. Dominique Ouattara for her commitment to the welfare of the poor in general and children in particular. For him, through this commitment, the wife of the Head of State translates into action the will of the President of the Republic to create a more united society in Côte d'Ivoire.
Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), thanked the wife of the Head of State for the organization of this tournament, which helps to keep children away from vices. He promised the support of the FIF for the organization and conduct of this tournament. "What Mrs. Dominique Ouattara does for the welfare of children, we will reproduce it nationally for our youth," he promised.
Jean-Louis Mouloud, Mayor of Grand-Bassam and spokesman for the beneficiary communities of the tournament, said that this tournament allows the Children Of Africa Foundation to strengthen its actions on the ground for children.
